In this role, you'll work at the forefront of the UK's deep tech ecosystem—playing a vital role in supporting and collaborating with senior stakeholders, interpreting and analysing economic and innovation-related data on market trends, emerging technologies, and the impact of innovation programmes that support some of the country's most exciting industries. Your work will support evidence-based decision-making, influence innovation policy, and help contribute to a more productive, competitive future for the UK.

This role can be based out of our London, Bristol, Belfast and Gateshead locations.

  • Apply advanced economic and analytical methods to assess and analyse the economic impacts of technologies such as AI, 5G, immersive, quantum, and advanced manufacturing.
  • Deliver high-quality insights through clear reports, dashboards, and presentations tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Inform strategic decision-making, providing evidence-based analysis that shapes Digital Catapult's programmes, pilots, and partnerships.
  • Evaluate the economic and productivity impacts of emerging technologies and innovation interventions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners across industry, academia, and government to ensure consistency and alignment with wider innovation policy goals.
  • Work closely with Operations, Programme Management, and Data & AI Services to extract and analyse value from internal CRM and programme data.
  • Support thought leadership, contributing to articles, briefings, and publications that position Digital Catapult as a trusted source of innovation and economic insight.
  • Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyse spatial and economic data.
Requirements
  • Strong analytical and economic research skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights clearly within a regulatory or public sector environment.
  • Confidence working with large datasets and applying economic methodologies and models.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate business needs into analytical requirements and identify data-driven solutions.
  • Experience of producing high quality reports, dashboards and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences and providing specialist advice.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies and their real-world economic impact.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Good understanding and experience in spatial analysis, mapping and using GIS tools (ArcGIS or Mapbox) is desirable.
  • A good understanding and previous experience within research and data visualisation.
  • Enthusiastic and committed.
