Position: Consultant Ecologist

Location: Oxford

Salary: £26,000-£35,000 DOE

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Our client, a respected and forward-thinking property and land consultancy, is seeking a motivated Consultant Ecologist to join their expanding Oxford team. Known for delivering high-quality services across the utilities, infrastructure, and environmental sectors, they offer a collaborative environment where professional development and innovation are encouraged.

About the Role

As a Consultant Ecologist, you will:

  • Undertake ecological surveys, assessments, and reporting for a variety of infrastructure and development projects.
  • Provide clear, practical ecological advice to support planning applications and environmental compliance.
  • Work closely with clients, landowners, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure ecological best practice.
  • Support the design and delivery of mitigation and enhancement strategies that benefit both biodiversity and project outcomes.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in ecological consultancy or environmental assessment.
  • Good understanding of UK wildlife legislation, protected species, and habitat survey techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive, positive approach and the ability to manage tasks independently and collaboratively.

Professional membership or working toward membership of CIEEM is advantageous but not essential. Protected species licences or survey experience (e.g., bats, GCN, reptiles) are also desirable.
