Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an ecologist to support nationally important infrastructure projects. You will plan field surveys, analyse results, and design ecological mitigation while authoring reports and licence applications. You will engage with other areas of the business and contribute innovation within the ecology team.

We welcome ecologists at various stages; a full UK/EU driving licence is preferred and hybrid UK-based work is available. Training and mentoring will be provided.

Qualifications

• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or working towards it.
• Strong botanical skills, FISC level 4 or equivalent with demonstrable ability.
• Knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain legislation, policy and methods.
• Experience with UK Habitat survey, habitat condition assessments and Defra metrics.
• Good report writing skills and ability to author HMMPs/ EIAs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and undertake field surveys; analyse survey results.
• Design and co-ordinate ecological mitigation.
• Author a range of ecological reports and licence applications.
• Engage with other business areas for interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Provide innovation and mentoring within the ecology team.

For us, it is the experience, knowledge and, above all, your ability to fit in well with our existing team of ecologists, that really matters.Flexible-across-UK## **Your role*** Supporting on nationally important infrastructure projects, managing project programmes and budgets.* Planning and undertaking field surveys; analysing and interpreting survey results.* Designing and co‐ordinating ecological mitigation.* Authoring a range of ecological reports and licence applications.* Interdisciplinary engagement – the candidate will actively seek to engage with other areas of the business.* Candidate will proactively provide innovation on projects and within the ecology team.* This role will have tailored mentoring and support towards achieving career goals.* Appropriate training courses external and internal will be reviewed with your mentor and Practice Manager.## About you* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or actively working towards this.* Strong botanical skills, including (preferably) at least Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) level 4, or demonstrable botanical ability matching this level.* A knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain legislation, policy and methods, the natural environment and wildlife legislation.* The ability to undertake Biodiversity Net Gain assessments including feasibility assessments, baseline assessments and post works assessments.* Good report writing skills including (preferably) experience of authoring Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs).* Report writing, including preparing Preliminary Ecological Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments.* Strong working knowledge and experience of UK Habitat survey, habitat condition assessments, and the Defra Biodiversity Metric.* A working knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain legislation, policy and methods, the natural environment and wildlife legislation.* The ability to undertake Biodiversity Net Gain assessments including feasibility assessments, baseline assessments and post works assessments.* Good report writing skills including (preferably) experience of authoring Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans (HMMPs).* Strong botanical skills, including (preferably) at least Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) level 4, or demonstrable botanical ability matching this level.* A full UK/EEC driving licence.## ## Rewards & benefitsExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive – at every stage of your life and your career.
