Position: Consultant Ecologist
Location: Oxford
Salary: £26,000-£35,000 DOE
Contract: Permanent, Full-time

About the Role

As a Consultant Ecologist, you will:

  • Undertake ecological surveys, assessments, and reporting for a variety of infrastructure and development projects.
  • Provide clear, practical ecological advice to support planning applications and environmental compliance.
  • Work closely with clients, landowners, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure ecological best practice.
  • Support the design and delivery of mitigation and enhancement strategies that benefit both biodiversity and project outcomes.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in ecological consultancy or environmental assessment.
  • Good understanding of UK wildlife legislation, protected species, and habitat survey techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive, positive approach and the ability to manage tasks independently and collaboratively.
  • Professional membership or working toward membership of CIEEM is advantageous but not essential. Protected species licences or survey experience (e.g., bats, GCN, reptiles) are also desirable.
