About the Role

As Tetra Tech builds on its leading position in environmental consultancy, we are seeking a talented senior ecologist with ornithology experience to join our national team. You will lead on projects that align with your technical skillset, contribute to a diverse portfolio, and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver multiple ornithology projects to high client expectations within fixed deadlines.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams to ensure project success.
• Provide technical support and feedback to colleagues on project deliverables.
• Conduct field surveys, including winter, passage, and breeding bird surveys on wind farm sites, extensive habitat regulation works, and large greenfield sites.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or previous consultancy experience in ornithology.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Membership of (or eligibility to join) the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
• Legal entitlement to work in the UK.
• Strong project management and financial awareness.
• Experience across diverse sectors and confidence in client engagement.

• Winter, passage and breeding bird surveys of wind farm sites in the North East and Scotland.

• Breeding bird surveys for large greenfield sites including Local Wildlife Sites.
