GTR is seeking an ECDP Finance Business Partner to join us at a key moment in our transformation. This is a great opportunity to play a central role within a progressive, future-focused organisation.

You’ll be responsible for:

Providing Financial support to project delivery and governance, with a key focus on driving efficiencies across the East Coast Digital Program (ECDP), ensuring commerciality within the Network Rail funded program is maintained and income against the project is recognised.

Key accountabilities:
  • Lead finance for the ECDP project, owning all financial accounting, governance and risk management.
  • Control and monitor spend against approved budgets, ensuring full visibility and accurate forecasting.
  • Manage accrued income to protect cashflow and ensure timely billing.
  • Capture all project costs accurately and drive a cost-efficient culture with measurable savings.
  • Track costs against milestones to assess efficiencies, delays, outturn spend and future risks/opportunities.
  • Provide financial insight and challenge on funding agreements, working closely with senior stakeholders.
  • Support audits, justify costs, and contribute to periodic reporting with Network Rail.
  • Collaborate across all relevant teams to enable integrated project delivery.
  • Act as the finance champion for ECDP across Finance and GTR.
Knowledge:
  • Management accounting: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cost control.
  • Financial reporting and analysis: interpreting financial statements, KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Strong business and industry awareness, including commercial and strategic drivers.
  • Proficient with ERP systems, Excel and BI tools.
  • Understanding of accounting standards, governance and compliance.
Skills:
  • Strong stakeholder management, including influencing senior non-finance stakeholders.
  • Analytical with the ability to interpret data and provide insight‑led recommendations.
  • Clear communicator, able to explain finance to non-finance audiences.
  • Proactive problem‑solver with a focus on risks and opportunities.
  • Commercially aware, linking financial analysis to operational performance.
  • Experience supporting projects, business cases and cost‑saving initiatives.
