Job description

We are seeking two dedicated Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SLTA) to join the ECASS team and support the delivery of the Early Language Support for Every Child (ELSEC) programme. The posts are fixed term to 31/7/2026 (term could be extended subject to funding).

Following a successful pilot in Barnet, ELSEC is now expanding to Enfield. The programme focuses on children accessing the Universal Offer in mainstream schools and introduces a new model where SLTAs deliver universal, targeted, and specialist support directly to schools under the supervision of a Speech and Language Therapist. The goal is to build school staff confidence and capacity to sustain language development during and beyond the programme.

Responsibilities

  • Support children with SLCN through universal and targeted strategies.
  • Assist in training school staff to embed communication support in everyday practice.
  • Contribute to data collection and reporting for programme evaluation.
  • Collaborate with education and health professionals to ensure high-quality, child-centred support.
What makes this role exciting
  • Be part of an innovative, nationally funded pilot shaping the future of early language support.
  • Gain experience working alongside Speech and Language Therapists in schools.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
Requirements
  • Has experience working with children in healthcare or education settings (including Early Years and/or Primary schools).
  • Has a keen interest in children's communication and language development.
  • Is enthusiastic, organised, and able to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
