Behaviour Mentor Role

Do you have experience working as a behaviour mentor? Are you a naturally confident, friendly, lively individual with great time management skills who believes they can improve the outcomes of young people?

We would love to hear from you! Times are different and challenging at the moment, but your support will be invaluable to young people who may not be in the main classrooms of school. They are a chatty bunch and will require you to be fair but firm in a friendly way.

Position Details
  • Location: Tameside
  • Position: Behavioural Teaching Assistant
  • Type of work: Teaching Support
  • Start date: ASAP
  • End date: July 2025
  • Contract type: Temporary
  • Full time: Yes
  • Minimum rate of pay: GBP 95 per day
  • Hours: 8:30 am - 4 pm
Qualifications & Experience
  • Level 3 TA / Degree educated with a good classification
  • Previous experience working with young people (references required)
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (last year)
  • Up-to-date Prevent awareness training (last 3 years)
  • Behaviour management training (desirable, but highly recommended)
Eligibility through Prospero Teaching
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS registered with the online update service or willingness to process a new application
  • Two professional child-related references

This role involves providing mentoring, a calming and reliable influence, and educational support where needed. No need to be an expert in every school subject—patience, approachability, and a calm attitude are key. Your first few weeks may be challenging, but once settled, the rewards are fantastic. You'll also develop communication skills with young people and staff, which will benefit future qualifications.
