Job summary

MC Technical Recruitment is partnering with a leading energy-from-waste provider in Milton Keynes to recruit an Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Technician. The role involves carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across power generation and recycling facilities, with a focus on reliability and safety.

You will work on DCS/SCADA and PLC systems, fault finding on motor drives, switchgear and control panels, and support the operations team in daily maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification (HNC/NVQ/Apprenticeship) or equivalent.
• Experience in EfW or related energy-from-waste sector.
• Experience troubleshooting on DCS, SCADA and PLCs.
• Electrical maintenance experience on motors, switchgear, VSDs and control panels.
• Familiar with Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, RAMS, permit to work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on process plant.
• Investigate and rectify electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Support operations in daily maintenance activities.
• Respond to breakdowns to ensure continuous operations.
• Recommend spares and repairs to Maintenance manager.
• Assist with statutory inspections.
• Liaise with operations on fault finding and modifications.
• Work days to support site operations.
• Perform any other duties as required.

MC Technical Recruitment are partnered with a leading provider of energy from waste in Milton Keynes, seeking an Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Technician to join their team. Working on a Monday to Friday, early, day & late shift basis, the EC&I Technician will carry out planned & preventative maintenance across the entire power generation & recycling facilities.

As the EC&I Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Carry out planned & reactive maintenance on process plant
• Investigating & rectifying electrical faults to minimise plant downtime
• Supporting the operations team in daily maintenance activities
• Responding to breakdowns to ensure continuous operations
• Recommend plant spares & repairs to Maintenance manager
• Assist the maintenance manager with statutory inspections
• Liaise with operations team regarding fault finding & modification to process equipment
• Working on a days basis to support operations across the site
• Any other duties as required

To be considered for this role you should have:

• A relevant engineering qualified (HNC/NVQ/Apprenticeship etc.)
• Proven experience in EfW or relevant sector (Biomass / CCGT / energy from waste / Water)
• Experience troubleshooting, fault finding & rectifying problems on DCS, SCADA and PLCs
• Electrical maintenance experience on motors, switchgear, VSDs, control panels, etc.
• Knowledge of all Health, Safety & Environmental legislation & safe systems of work, RAMS, permit to work, etc.

This is a permanent position based in Milton Keynes; due to the on call rota, you will need a full UK driving licence to access the site.
