Introduction

Our client is recruiting for an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join our Energy business, which is entering an exciting phase of opportunity: supporting a key client's UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation; supporting new small and advanced modular reactor developers. Their work is varied, covering nuclear projects (Licensing, New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling), Renewable Energy projects and high energy industrial projects, such as data centres and hydrogen production facilities. In addition, we have opportunities across the wider business to help us to keep work interesting as you develop your career with us.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design, development, testing, and implementation EC&I systems within nuclear projects
  • Produce design calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and reports to project and regulatory requirements
  • Support requirements capture and a Systems Engineering approach for new architectures
  • Contribute across the project lifecycle from bid generation, through concept and detailed design development to installation and commissioning
  • Work on systems integration, testing and validation of PLC, SCADA and simulator systems
  • Assist in the preparation of design safety documentation and compliance with nuclear safety standards
  • Participate in site surveys, inspections, and commissioning activities
  • Contribute to problem-solving, technical investigations, and root cause analysis
  • Produce high-quality technical reports
  • Build and maintain valuable relationships with peers, partners and clients
Qualifications and Requirements
  • MEng, MSc, BEng or BSc or equivalent in EC&I or another relevant discipline
  • Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body (we will support you).
  • An awareness of civil nuclear plant systems, structures and components and associated design and assessment guidelines (or relevant engineering principles from other highly regulated industries)
  • Knowledge or EC&I principals, design tools and relevant guidelines, standards and practices (e.g., BS, IEC, IEEE - in particular IEC 61508, 61511, 61513, 61226 and ONR SAPs / TAGS)
  • Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system; including specification, design, assessment, verification, testing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of safety or process critical I&C Systems
  • Knowledge of high integrity hardware or software-based control systems for industrial equipment
  • Motivated team member with the ability to work to deadlines and communicate project progress
  • Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders
