This covers the delivery of the complete design of the Electrical systems, spanning system architecture, sub-system design and equipment specification and design / selection to realise the final verified design of the power station. You will do this by working closely with the engineering teams from across the power station and applying a structured systems engineering approach to design.

Your mission
  • Reviews and agrees high level electrical requirements including their testability.
  • Analyses and translates high level requirements into a validated design for the electrical system/component.
  • Captures applicable design constraints (must meet conditions) and quality attributes (may be traded) that apply to the system/component.
  • Captures requirements/constraints in line with the project’s processes for management of interfaces and requirements (e.g., requirements captured in IBM DOORS).
  • Designs and implements electrical designs to meet design inputs.
  • Works with the Verification team to define verification activities.
  • Analyses electrical designs for functional behaviour, which may include modelling and simulation to demonstrate that the design meets the high-level requirements. Develops and reviews electrical tests that will provide evidence to demonstrate that the electrical requirements have been satisfied.
  • Participates in and supports capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for the team, in conjunction with managers.
  • Identifies and mitigates risks.
  • Develops, implements, documents, and maintains policies, procedures, associated guidelines, tools, and training as required.

  • Represents the electrical engineering area in meetings, working groups and integrated project teams as assigned.
  • Works across the power station engineering teams, where required, to deliver standardisation and a commoditised approach to system and component development.
  • Ensures that quality is maintained throughout the SMR project lifecycle by undertaking appropriate technical reviews and providing the required electrical engineering inputs to the project technical review gates.
  • Discusses the electrical system design with external organisations including the nuclear safety regulator, potential customers, and suppliers.
