Specsavers in Cockermouth is opening a brand-new store in January 2027 and recruiting for an Optical Assistant Apprentice. The programme runs 15–18 months, with you earning a full-time wage while you learn the trade alongside an experienced team.

The apprenticeship is a paid, full-time role (37.5 hours) including weekend work, with structured on-the-job training and end-to-end development to become a qualified Optical Assistant.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths grade 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent/predicted results.
• EU residency for 3 years or more with right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming customers into store.
• Booking in eye tests.
• Pre-screening patients.
• Providing style advice.
• Measuring frames.
• Taking phone calls.
