Immediate Start: Early Years Teaching Assistant | Newport

Location: Newport
Start: ASAP
Pay: From £89 per day (pro-rata)
Hours: Mon‑Fri | Full‑time & part‑time available

A welcoming primary school in Newport is looking for a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to support Nursery and Reception pupils, including children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). This role is ideal for anyone passionate about early childhood development and inclusive learning.

The Role

Working within the EYFS, you will provide 1:1 and small‑group support to help children access learning through structured play, clear routines, and positive reinforcement.

You may support pupils with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH)
  • Developmental delays or sensory processing needs
Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils during daily learning activities
  • Assist with IDPs/EHCP implementation
  • Encourage communication, interaction, and emotional wellbeing
  • Promote play‑based and visual learning
  • Work with teachers and the SENCO to adapt resources
Person Specification
  • Patient, caring, reliable, and supportive
  • Experienced in childcare, schools, or ALN settings (personal experience also considered)
  • Familiar with EYFS and early learning strategies
  • Confident supporting children with a range of needs
Essential Requirements
  • EWC registration
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Two recent references (within 24 months)
