Job summary

Vision for Education is recruiting qualified Early Years Teaching Assistants to work across primary settings in the DL1 area of Darlington, starting January 2027. This role supports young children's learning, development and wellbeing within a structured, play-based EYFS framework.

The successful candidate will hold a Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare and another EYFS-specific credential, with prior experience in early years. Various full- and part-time shifts available.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare or a relevant equivalent qualification.
• Recognised specific Early Years qualification suitable for EYFS settings.
• Previous experience working with children in an Early Years, nursery or primary environment.
• Good understanding of the EYFS framework.
• Knowledge of child development and play-based learning.
• Ability to support children's communication, language, social and emotional development.
• Caring, patient and nurturing approach; excellent communication and teamwork.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare; availability January 2027.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of engaging and age-appropriate activities aligned with EYFS.
• Support learning through structured activities and play-based experiences.
• Create a safe, welcoming environment where children feel secure and confident.
• Support children's communication, language, physical, emotional and social development.
• Encourage independence, creativity and curiosity through purposeful play.
• Work with individuals and small groups to support development.
• Observe progress and contribute to assessments and learning records.
• Support early literacy and numeracy development.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety procedures at all times.
• Collaborate with teachers and the wider school team; build relationships with children and families.

Education
