Job summary

Stenhouse Primary School Nursery in Edinburgh is seeking an Early Years Practitioner on a fixed-term basis until Spring 2027. Salary ranges £30,188–£34,452 pro rata for sessional work, based on 36 hours/week over 39 weeks.

The role requires the appropriate Scottish qualifications and PVG scheme checks, with emphasis on building strong family links and outdoor learning. Hours are 8.00am–4.00pm (Mon–Thu) and 8.00am–2.30pm (Fri).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Early Years Practitioner to join Stenhouse Primary School Nursery.

Stenhouse Nursery Class are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and adaptable team-player to join our existing staff team, covering a maternity leave until Spring 2027. We are particularly interested in those with experience in building strong family links, a passion for the outdoors and experience with additional support needs and multi-agency working.

Working hours are:
Monday - Thursday 8.00am - 4.00pm
Friday 8.00am - 2.30pm

Please note - You must ensure that you have one of the following qualifications before you apply:

• SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 7

or

• HNC Childhood Practice

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
