The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking an enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner for Duddingston Primary School in Edinburgh. The role focuses on providing nurturing support and delivering high quality learning experiences to young children aged 3-5 in our term-time nursery.

This post requires PVG scheme membership and suitable pre-employment checks. Working pattern is Thursday and Friday (12.5 hours per week, 39 weeks term). The salary is pro-rata for part-time work.

Early Years Practitioner
Duddingston Primary School

Salary: £30,188 - £34,452 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 12.50 hours per week, 39 weeks sessional
Working Pattern: Thursday (0815-1630hrs) and Friday (0815-1300hrs)

We are looking for an enthusiastic early years practitioner to join our team, who has a nurturing approach and commitment to delivering high quality learning experiences to the children in our setting.

Applicants must hold one of the following qualifications:

• HNC in Childcare and Education
• SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 7

Duddingston nursery class is part of Duddingston Primary School, a non-denominational school situated in the North East of Edinburgh and part of the Portobello Learning Community. Our nursery operates on a term-time basis and has 60 full time places for children aged 3-5 years. Built in 2016, our nursery has a secure outdoor and garden area which the children have access to at all times.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
