Job summary

Hello! Navigo in Grimsby is recruiting for a Band Four Early Years Practitioner to support mothers with perinatal mental health problems. The role focuses on promoting mother-infant attachment and delivering tailored interventions.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team across community and home settings, engaging with families to improve child development and family wellbeing. An electronic care system and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Professional childcare knowledge acquired through BTEC/NNEB or equivalent qualification examples being: Level 2 Early years practitioner; NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education; Evidence of continued professional development; Diploma in Childcare & Education (NNEB); Diploma in Childcare Studies (BTEC).

Responsibilities

• Assist mothers with perinatal mental health problems to care for their babies and engage in activities to promote the mother-infant relationship.
• Deliver high quality, tailored interventions in perinatal and maternal mental health and attachment-based approaches.
• Work with the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of children and families and support family-centred care.
• Visit mothers in their homes or other premises to provide direct interventions either one-to-one or in groups.
• Communicate effectively with other professionals involved in the care of the child and mother.

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for you tobecome part of the Perinatal Mental Health Team in the North East Lincolnshirelocality. We are looking for a dynamic, eager and passionate individual to joinour specialist service, offering support and a wide range of interventions tosupport mothers who are experiencing moderate to severe mental healthissues. The post holder will be employedas a Band Four Early Years Practitioner.

Main duties of the job

The main function of the role is tosupport mothers with perinatal mental health problems to care for their babies,ensure that the emotional and physical needs of the babies are met and toengage in activities to promote the mother-infant relationship. The corepurpose of the team in which the post-holder will work, is to deliver highquality, tailored interventions in perinatal and maternal mental health andattachment based approaches to mothers and infants.

Job responsibilities

To assistmothers with perinatal mental health problems to care for their babies, ensurethat the emotional and physical needs of the babies are met and engage inactivities to promote the mother-infant relationship The core purpose of theteam in which the post-holder will work, is to deliver high quality, tailoredinterventions in perinatal and maternal mental health and attachment basedapproaches to mothers and infants

The rolewould include direct interventions with women and their families with perinatalmental health problems, this may be one to one or in group setting. Visitingmothers in their own homes or at other premises such as childrens centres.local parks, cafes, medical centres. Tosupport teaching and training delivered by the perinatal service.

The postholder will assist the multidisciplinary team in meeting the needs of childrenand their families by undertaking delegated duties that support and enablefamily centred care.

Towork as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that there isappropriate communication with other professionals involved in the care of thechild and mother.

Experience

• Experience of working in child care within a range of settings Experience of working with infants and parents

Knowledge

• A good understanding of a range of child development issues
• Standard IT skills e.g. be able to use word, outlook email and Internet search facilities
• A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to child development
• Knowledge of Trust IT systems e.g. SystmOn
