EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER - Great Barr
About the Role
In the role of Early Years Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing outstanding care and education for children at our Oldbury nursery. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring each child s individual needs are met.
Key Responsibilities
As an Early Years Practitioner, you will:
- Deliver high-quality childcare and education, demonstrating a strong understanding of the EYFS.
- Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating a range of activities suited to the children s ages and stages of development.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and clean nursery environment at all times.
- Develop positive, professional relationships with colleagues, parents, carers, and outside agencies.
- Support the nursery team in promoting a culture of safeguarding and child welfare.
- Undertake domestic and practical tasks such as preparing snacks, cleaning equipment, and maintaining hygiene standards.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and open days as required.
- Record observations, progress reports, and children s development using the key worker system.
- Ensure accurate sign-in/out procedures and compliance with collection policies.
- Respect confidentiality and uphold the nursery s professional standards at all times.
- Conduct effective risk assessments and report any hazards, incidents, or concerns promptly.
Specific Childcare Tasks
- Prepare and complete activities that match each child s developmental stage.
- Support children with feeding, toileting, and personal care, ensuring dignity and comfort.
- Provide supervision, emotional support, and reassurance to all children.
- Promote positive social interactions during mealtimes and group activities.
- Report any signs of illness, neglect, or injury in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for your own safety and that of others.
- Follow all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Use all equipment and resources safely and appropriately.
- Report any hazards, accidents, or defects to the Nursery Manager immediately.
- Participate in relevant Health & Safety and safeguarding training.
- Early Years Practitioners will report to the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager
Qualifications & Benefits
Required Qualification: Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
