Job summary

Sancton Wood Nursery in Cambridge, near the train station, is offering an Early Years Educator Apprentice position. You will work with experienced practitioners while gaining hands-on experience toward a recognised childcare qualification.

You'll support the learning and wellbeing of young children in a safe, nurturing EYFS environment, engaging in play, routines and safeguarding to build your skills for a rewarding career.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship towards a recognised childcare qualification.
  • Experience working with children preferred but not required.
  • Commitment to learning and development in early years.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate learning activities in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Promote learning, development and wellbeing through play-based and structured experiences.
  • Observe, assess and record children's progress for journals and reports.
  • Ensure a safe, secure and stimulating environment for all children.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents and carers and maintain professional communication.
  • Promote inclusion, diversity and equal opportunities within the setting.
  • Support children's personal care routines (toileting, feeding, hygiene).
  • Work as part of a team and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns per policy.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and carry out risk assessments as required.

YOUR ROLE

The purpose of this apprenticeship is to provide a valuable opportunity to develop practical skills, knowledge and experience within the early years sector while working towards a recognised childcare qualification.

As an Early Years Educator Apprentice, you will support the learning, development and wellbeing of young children in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. You will work alongside experienced practitioners to help deliver high-quality childcare and education in line with the EYFS framework.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience supporting children through play, structured activities and everyday routines, while developing your understanding of child development, safeguarding, health and wellbeing.

This apprenticeship is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children and wants to build the skills, confidence and knowledge needed for a successful and rewarding career in early years education.

ABOUT OUR NURSERY

Our newly refurbished nursery is perfectly located near the train station, with convenient on-site bike and car parking.

Sancton Wood Nursery is a nurturing, family-friendly environment supporting children aged 12 months to 4 years, and is celebrated for its outstanding approach to each child's social and emotional development.

Our spacious outdoor garden is a magical space for little explorers. With Forest School sessions, a large climbing frame, a water pump and a sandpit, children have endless opportunities to develop physically, creatively and socially in a safe and inspiring setting.

The nursery operates 48 weeks a year, closing at Christmas, Easter and for two weeks in August.

Staff also enjoy an additional 5 days' holiday plus public holidays that fall outside nursery closure periods.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
