Job summary

The Nursery School Storrington is seeking an Early Years Educator Apprentice to join our team in Pulborough. You will work 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and study toward a Level 3 Childcare qualification through the Realise apprenticeship provider.

You will support children 0–5 with learning, wellbeing and inclusion, while gaining hands-on experience under supervision. The role includes safeguarding, observation recording and collaborative planning.

Qualifications

• Experience with children aged 0–5 preferred but not essential.
• GCSE English and/or Maths at level 4 or above preferred.
• Reliable, flexible and able to work cooperatively.
• Passion for working with children.

Responsibilities

• Support the nursery team and help provide a warm, welcoming environment.
• Assist with planning and preparation of activities for children's learning.
• Support well-being and care of children, including those with additional needs.
• Record observations and contribute to planning using appropriate methods.
• Supervise meals and assist with feeding where appropriate.

Vacancy Detail

As an Apprentice Educator at The Nursery School Storrington you will work as a team to help support the nursery as it grows into a truly fascinating setting for our children, whilst studying towards a Level 3 Childcare qualification.

During your apprenticeship duties will include;

• To work within the ethos of our Nurseries and provide a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment, where children feel secure.
• With the guidance of the Senior and Qualified practitioners to ensure the well-being, care of all the children and support their access to learning (including those with additional needs).
• To assist with the planning and preparation of activities, to meet children’s individual needs, liaising with parents and negotiating working targets ensuring effective communication within the nursery.
• To assist in providing learning experiences that challenge and enable children to grow in confidence and independence within a stimulating environment.
• To nurture positive relationships and role modelling positive behaviour with children ensuring their emotional well-being to promote their confidence and self-esteem.
• To assist in the recording of observation, assessment, monitoring, and record keeping of children’s learning and development using a variety of methods and to inform planning.
• Supervisions of meals and mealtimes, and where appropriate additional preparation of food/bottles for babies to ensure safer eating.
• To adhere at all times to the Allergies and Allergic Reactions Policy as well as the Sleep Policy to safeguard children with allergies and whilst sleeping.
• To understand and promote inclusion and equality policies and procedures
• To be a reliable member of the team, working co-operatively and with flexibility.
• To work flexible hours as requested by the Manager.
• Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager and The Company Directors

Qualifications required

• Experience with children aged 0-5 years preferred but not essential.
• GCSE Level 4 or above in English and/or Maths is preferred but not essential.
• A passion for working with children.
• To be reliable, flexible and work cooperatively.

Training to be Provided

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day. You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:

• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
• Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator
• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This will be delivered by your dedicated training provider, Realise.
