Responsibilities
- Support children aged 9 months to 7 years.
- Assist room leads with planning and running activities.
- Support children's education and development, understanding learning through play.
- Support key children, conduct observations and record them on the online platform.
- Receive training in safeguarding, health and safety, and first aid.
- Provide personal care for children, including nappy changes.
- Recognise when a child or colleague is at risk of abuse and act in line with safeguarding policy.
- Apply legislation, policy and procedure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children (food safety, diets, starting solid food, allergies, COSHH, emergencies).
- Apply risk assessment and risk‑management principles in documentation and practice.
- Teach children skills to manage risk and maintain safety.
- Use a range of communication methods, including technology, to meet children's needs.
- Develop and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with other professionals.
- Undertake the role and responsibilities of key person.
- Apply attachment theories to develop effective relationships with children.
- Advocate for children requiring SEND or EAL support.
- Promote and facilitate children's social interactions and relationships.
- Support children to develop a positive sense of identity and culture.
- Help children understand and respond to emotions and make considered choices about behaviours.
- Assess the environment to ensure child‑centred experiences aligned with the curriculum.
- Create inclusive, child‑centred, dynamic, innovative, and evolving indoor and outdoor environments.
- Create a supportive emotional environment that enables children to feel safe, secure, respected and experienced wellbeing.
- Apply strategies that support children in managing change, transition and significant events.
- Analyse observation evidence to plan holistic individual learning based on children's needs and interests.
- Facilitate and support child‑centred opportunities and experiences in line with the setting's curriculum and pedagogy.
- Provide adult‑led opportunities and experiences in line with the setting's curriculum and pedagogy.

Qualifications
- GCSE English (grade 9‑4 / A‑C / Level 2)
