Job summary

North Ayrshire Council is seeking an Early Years assistant based at Garnock Community Campus. Reporting to the Head Teacher, you will assist in meeting the educational, care and welfare needs of early years children.

Interviews may be in person or via Microsoft Teams; a PVG disclosure is required for regulated work with children, with the council covering and deducting the fee where applicable. The post uses one of the council’s defined workstyles; further details are in the attached role

Qualifications

  • PVG (Children) disclosure is required for regulated work with children.
  • Preferred candidates will be asked to join PVG Scheme or update checks, cost recoverable from salary.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in meeting the educational, care and welfare needs of early years children under the direction of the Head Teacher.
  • Report to the Head Teacher and support classroom activities within Garnock Community Campus Early Years Class.

Job description

his site operates from 9am to 3.30pm. Initial working pattern is between the hours 11.30am - 2.30pm Monday to Friday.

We may conduct our interviews in person or using Microsoft Teams for video calling. All you need is a device with a camera and access to the internet. We will provide guidance and instructions on how to use this method if your interview is being held virtually.

This post is based within Garnock Community Campus Early Years Class. Reporting to the Head Teacher, you will assist in meeting the educational, care and welfare needs of early years children. For more details see the attached Role Profile below.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
