The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking an Early Years Assistant for the Forest Kindergarten at Cammo Estate. The role is permanent and part-time, 18 hours per week across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with a pro-rata salary of £26,806 to £27,032 per year.

The setting is outdoor, woodland-based, and focuses on learning through nature and community connections. There is a requirement to pursue SSSC registration within three months and to obtain SVQ2/SCQF Level 6 within three years.

Early Years Assistant
Forest Kindergarten(Cammo)

Salary: £26,806 - £27,032 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 18 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Forest Kindergartens are fully outdoor Early Learning and Childcare settings, based in woodlands and parks across the City of Edinburgh. We support children's learning and development through connections to nature, community, people and through developing life-long skills, resilience, curiosity and a love for the natural world.

We are now recruiting an enthusiastic Early Years Assistant based at our Cammo Estate base on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will work 18 hours per week as follows:

• Wednesday & Thursday 8 hours each day (30 minute unpaid lunch break).
• Friday 2 hours

Although no formal qualification is required, candidates should have a good basic education and be literate and numerate.

Early Years Assistants must apply for registration with SSSC within three months of being offered a post and must also gain a SVQ2/SCQF Level 6 qualification within 3 years of taking up the role.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
