Job summary

Highbury Primary School Early Years is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Assistant to join our EYFS team. You will support emotional and learning development of children aged 9 months to 5 years, working with qualified practitioners to create a positive and engaging learning environment within a nurturing setting.

The role is permanent, 32.5 hours per week across 38 weeks per year, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Start ASAP; closing date 04/09/2026.

Responsibilities

• Support emotional and learning development of Early Years children within a child-centred environment.
• Maintain high standards of childcare and promote positive behaviour.
• Liaise with teachers, nursery staff, parents, carers and external organisations to foster collaboration.
• Support pupils to transition to primary school and ensure they are fully supported in their first year.

Position Description

As part of the EYFS team, the role involves supporting the emotional and learning development of Early Years children within a child-centred environment, while maintaining high standards of childcare and promoting positive behaviour. It also requires effective liaison with teachers, nursery staff, teaching assistants, parents, carers, and external organisations to ensure a collaborative approach within the nursery and EYFS setting. Additionally, the role provides appropriate support and guidance to meet individual pupil needs, helping children transition successfully to primary school and ensuring they are fully supported throughout their first year.
