Job summary

Upper Knapp Farm Day Nursery, part of The Gardens Nursery Group, is seeking an enthusiastic Early Years Apprentice to join their team near Dursley. You will gain hands-on nursery experience while working towards an Early Years qualification, supported by experienced practitioners to build confidence and practical skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or in a nursery setting is advantageous but not essential.
• GCSE Maths/English or equivalent, or willingness to work towards functional skills.
• Caring & nurturing with warmth towards children.
• Reliable, punctual and dependable.
• Enthusiastic, energetic and eager to learn.
• Resilient and able to stay calm in busy moments.
• Positive, solution-focused and team-oriented.
• Playful and imaginative when engaging with young children.

Responsibilities

• Supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing through play-based activities.
• Helping create a safe, welcoming and stimulating nursery environment.
• Assisting with daily routines including mealtimes, rest times, outdoor play and personal care.
• Encouraging children to explore, communicate and build confidence.
• Observing children’s progress and sharing information with senior staff.
• Supporting planned activities that meet children’s individual needs and interests.
• Following nursery policies, safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality.
• Working as part of a team and taking part in training and staff meetings.
• Developing knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage in practice.
