Job summary

Aberdeen City Council is seeking a part-time Early Years Practitioner for Abbotswell School on a term-time contract. You will work with the Senior and Early Years Practitioners in planning and delivering a flexible, high-quality early learning and childcare service, meeting children's and families' needs and improving outcomes.

Candidates should hold SVQ Level 2 in Social Services, be eligible for SSSC registration, and have PVG membership or be willing to obtain it.

Qualifications

• SVQ Level 2 in Social Services – children and young people at SCQF Level 6, or willingness to work toward.
• Registration with or eligibility to register with SSSC.
• PVG membership for regulated work with children (or willingness to obtain before offer).

Duration: Permanent, Full Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour))

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first FULL month's salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

To work within a team, assisting the Senior Early Years Practitioner and Early Years Practitioner in the planning and delivery of a flexible, high quality early learning and
childcare service. Meet individual needs of children and their families, ensuring their wellbeing and improving outcomes for all service users.

Term time contract

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

• SVQ Level 2 Social Services - children and young people at SCQF Level 6 (or willing to work towards)
• Registration with or eligibility to register with SSSC
• PVG Membership for Regulated work with Children or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

• Ability to relate to children, parents,carersand other professional colleagues

• Experience of communicating effectively, including non-verbal,verbaland written forms of communication
