Job summary

Hull City Council is seeking an Early Help Activity Co-ordinator to join the Family Hub network. This full-time fixed-term role focuses on increasing face-to-face delivery capacity and delivering targeted support for parents and carers with babies and toddlers.

You will develop and deliver learning and play activities, run infant massage and breastfeeding peer groups, and work with partners to promote safe sleep and healthy family outcomes across Hull.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the welfare of children, young people and families.
  • Develop and deliver high quality learning and play activities and groups for infants and families.
  • Improve physical and mental well-being through infant massage, breastfeeding peer support, and Us Mums activities.
  • Deliver sensory sessions for 0-3 years as part of the SEND pathway with SLC practitioners.
  • Carry out home visits and outreach to disadvantaged families to promote Early Help services.
  • Deliver Cooking on a Budget, healthy eating, introducing solid foods and HENRY courses.
  • Support training across the partnership for Reducing Parental Conflict with health visiting.
  • Provide information on home safety, Safe Sleep, ICON and CONI approaches.
  • Evaluate and monitor services, capturing user views to guide future delivery and improvement.
  • Maintain accurate case records for all family members using ICT systems, in line with data protection.

Number of Vacancies:1Time Type:Full timeWorker Type:Fixed Term (Fixed Term)Proposed Interview Date:Wednesday, September 23, 2026Hours of Work:37Hiring Manager:Sophie DaleContact Number:01482 612017Job Description Summary:This is a full time fixed term position to cover the secondment of the substantive post holder.If the postholder requires a Standard or Enhanced DBS disclosure the candidate is required to declare full details of everything on their criminal record unless the conviction/s and/or caution/s are considered “protected” in line with filtering rules for DBS checks.Interviews will be held 23 / 24th September 2026.ROLE AND PURPOSETo increase the face to face delivery capacity across the Family Hub network in order to provide targeted support for parents and carers who have recently given birth (0-2 years), thereby preventing further isolation and family problems from escalating, bringing about sustainable behavioural change, increasing resilience, improving outcomes and decreasing dependency on public services.To support new parent’s and carers to access a range of direct and peer support activities via group activity, by developing and delivering a range of targeted Early Help services which will achieve and sustain positive outcomes for families across Hull, predominantly to children 0-2 years and their families as part of an integrated, multi-agency Early Help Hub.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and families.2. To develop and deliver high quality learning and play activities and groups to engage children, new parents and carers, through peer support and interaction with other families, reducing social isolation and increasing community networks.3. To improve physical and mental well-being for families, through the provision of infant massage groups, breast feeding peer support groups and Us Mums physical activities, encouraging parental interaction, attachment and bonding and learning through play.4. To deliver sensory sessions for children 0-3 identified as part of the SEND early identification pathway and sessions to support improvements in early speech, language and communication co-working with SLC practitioners.5. To carry out home visits and outreach work targeting those who are most disadvantaged and vulnerable, which provide support, advice and guidance to parents and carers about Early Help services available including those delivered in Children’s Centres, by partner agencies and in the local community to encourage active participation and involvement in local services.6. To deliver Cooking on a Budget, healthy eating, introducing solid foods and HENRY courses for local families to support healthy weight and lifestyles.7. To support with roll out of training across the partnership for ‘Reducing Parental Conflict’ and early identification and support around parental conflict with new parents and carers jointly with health visiting.8. To provide information and advice on home safety and accident prevention as part of the integrated delivery and resources provided to support families, and further embedding Safe Sleep, ICON (Babies Cry, You Can Cope) and CONI approaches across targeted families.9. Undertake appropriate evaluation and monitoring of all services ensuring user views are sought systematically and this is used to influence and shape future service delivery and continuous service improvement.10. Maintain accurate case records for all individuals within a family ensuring timely update and capturing all family outcomes utilising the relevant ICT systems as directed and in compliance with data protection legislation.11. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on Hull City Council, as your employer and you as an employee of the council.
