Fractile in the United Kingdom seeks an Early Career System Architect to join our Hardware organisation. You’ll assist senior architects, contribute to chip interfaces, interconnects, power and thermal design, and help translate architecture choices into real silicon and reliable hardware platforms.

You’ll work across hardware, firmware and software teams, gain hands-on exposure to prototyping, bring-up and system testing, and develop a solid foundation in digital systems and computer

Qualifications

• Early career professional with a foundation in digital systems and computer architecture.
• Experience collaborating across hardware, firmware, and software teams.
• Exposure to system-level design concepts such as power, thermal, I/O, memory or interconnect architectures.
• Hands-on FPGA prototyping or hardware bring-up is desirable.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical ideas clearly to others.

Responsibilities

• Support senior architects in defining and refining system architecture from chip interfaces to board-level integration.
• Gain hands-on exposure to early prototyping, bring-up, and system testing as ideas become real hardware.

About The Hardware Organisation At Fractile

System Architecture sits within the Hardware organisation at Fractile, responsible for designing the chips and systems that power our groundbreaking AI inference accelerator. That’s everything from chip‑level architecture and interconnects, through board design and thermal management, to full system integration and bring‑up. At Fractile, we know that world‑class system architecture is the foundation every other part of the stack is built on.

About The Team And Role

The System Architecture team at Fractile defines how our hardware comes together — from chip interfaces and interconnects through to board design, thermal management, and system‑level integration — working closely with digital design, verification, firmware and software teams to make sure architecture choices translate cleanly into working silicon and reliable hardware platforms. As an Early Career System Architect, you’ll support senior architects in defining and refining this architecture, and get hands‑on exposure to early prototyping, bring‑up, and system testing as ideas become real hardware.

About You

We’re looking for someone early in their career with a strong foundation in digital systems and computer architecture, gained through a degree, internships, or personal projects, who is genuinely curious about how complex hardware systems are taken from concept through to production. You’ll be comfortable working across disciplines — hardware, firmware, and software — and keen to learn fast in a fast‑moving environment.

Key Requirements

• A degree (or final‑year study) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field
• Exposure to system‑level design concepts — power, thermal, I/O, memory, or interconnect architectures — through academic projects, internships, or personal projects
• Some familiarity with digital design flows, gained through coursework, internships, or personal projects
• Comfortable working across disciplines — hardware, firmware, and software
• Strong communicator, able to explain technical ideas clearly to others
• Desirable: exposure to AI acceleration, HPC, or data‑centric architectures; hands‑on FPGA prototyping or hardware bring‑up; familiarity with SystemC or MATLAB
