Trinity Hall invites applications for Research Fellowships in Cambridge. The role focuses on conducting original, independent research in the candidate's field. Fellows may attend Governing Body meetings as trustees and may teach undergraduates if desired.
The post-PhD stipend is £29,497, with a pre-PhD stipend of £26,449, and accommodation is provided at the Wychfield site with dining rights and potential research expense support.
The prime duty of a Research Fellow is to conduct original, independent research in their field of study. They are not expected to undertake any additional administrative duties, but as trustees should attend meetings of the College’s Governing Body. In some subjects, opportunities may be available for Research Fellows to contribute to undergraduate teaching if they wish. The pensionable stipend of post-PhD Research Fellows is currently £29,497 (pre-PhD £26,449), cost of living award pending. If a candidate is awarded external funding, the Fellowship may still be offered on a non-stipendiary basis.
Research Fellows are offered accommodation, free of charge, at our beautiful Wychfield site. Wychfield is conveniently located with gardens, a gym and sports facilities and is home to a thriving community of postgraduate students and resident Fellows. Research Fellows are also given generous dining rights and may claim research expenses of up to £2,000 per year. We warmly encourage Research Fellows to participate in the rich academic and social life of the College.
The Fellowship is open to graduates of any gender, of any university, with no age limit.
Only those candidates who have submitted their PhD by the competition deadline will be eligible for longlisting by Trinity Hall.
These Fellowships are post-doctoral positions appropriate to the start of an academic career.
Candidates are warned that they are responsible for checking their eligibility to take up the post under UK immigration rules.
Trinity Hall operates a Joint Application Scheme for Early Career Research Fellowships with several other Cambridge colleges, and applications will be considered by all participating colleges offering Fellowships in the relevant subjects. Candidates are advised that competition is likely to be intense with many hundreds of applications received each year.
