Star Academies is seeking a dedicated support colleague for Small Heath Leadership Academy in Birmingham. You will join a committed team to create an outstanding learning environment and provide tailored pupil support.

The role focuses on helping learners with limited English, building positive relationships across the school and with Star communities, and coordinating with internal and external agencies. Strong ICT skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade 9-4/A*- C.
• Experience in a school or similar setting with children of relevant age.

About Small Heath Leadership Academy

Small Heath Leadership Academy is a secondary school in Birmingham. We joined Star Academies in 2018 and, like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism.

The school was rated ‘good’ in all four areas of the inspection framework during its inspection in May 2022.

You will be committed to making a positive difference to young people’s lives and in supporting and developing their learning. Your intervention will help enable an outstanding learning environment for our young people, providing the support they need to succeed.

The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills. You will have the ability to effectively support learning and teaching, and to develop relationships across our school and the Star community.

You will have:

• 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade 9-4/A*- C.
• Recent experience of working in a school or other organisation
  with children of relevant age to promote learning.
• Understanding and knowledge of the issues relating to students
  who have little or no English.
• Knowledge of how to access support from internal/ external
  agencies.
• Good ICT skills for word-processing, use of learning software and
  accessing on-line resources.
