We provide a full range of acute clinical services from Northampton General Hospital and Danetre Hospital in Daventry. We are a designated cancer centre and have recently invested in a number of additional specialist services, including in-patient renal services and interventional cardiology. All elective inpatients and emergency admissions are screened for MRSA. As part of our work to improve clinical outcomes we are taking part in a national patient safety programme and have invested in systems to capture patients views on the service we provide. Practice Development Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner - Theatres
We are seeking to recruit a dynamic motivated individual to join the Theatre educational team.
The successful individual will have a pivotal role in delivering Trust Objectives and ensuring that the care delivered within this specialty reflects the Trust Vision and Values.
The successful candidate must have the ability to provide positive mentoring/coaching and development to the clinical teams within all theatre specialities and act as a role model in all they do.

The successful applicant will be an experienced registered Nurse/ODP with a qualification in mentorship or training, positive teaching style, interest in education, and a good understanding of the Peri-operative Departments.
This role would be specifically supporting ODP Students, Newly Qualified Staff, Existing Scrub Practitioners and Theatre Support Workers. In developing and teaching best practice around the Surgical Scrub Role.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Professional Leadership . Support professional and clinical standards.
Act as a supportive professional role model for nursing and midwifery, providing quality care in accordance with the NMC/HCPC rules and codes of practice.
Organisational & Management Responsibilities
Effectively manage own time to ensure a balance between clinical and administrative duties.
Create, develop and deliver training to support Scrub Practitioners and Theatre Support Workers
Support the promotion and maintenance of a departmental culture which promotes an open and honest approach to professional decision making and problem solving.
Promote and maintain organisational and professional standards. Demonstrate and promote excellent interpersonal skills, written, verbal and nonverbal communication styles.
Influence and nurture positive attitudes and behaviours within the teams and wider multidisciplinary team.
Support the development and implementation of preceptorship and education programmes for newly qualified nurses and midwives.
Facilitate the development of the Support Worker role both within the hospital ensuring good practice guidance and competency frameworks are in place, fully implemented and evaluated.
Provide advice to promote clinical audit and quality improvement Support the mandatory training agenda.
Support preceptee in clinical practice during and after their preceptorship programme.
Guide practice by working alongside newly qualified and unqualified staff in the clinical environment to improve patient care outcomes and patient experience.
Contribute to multi-professional and inter- professional training and education. Utilise information from incidents and complaints to inform practice/educational programmes.
Undertake relevant clinical practices in accordance with the Scope of Professional Practice.Take all possible action to minimise clinical risk to patients, utilising all available resources.
Where issues of clinical competence are identified, work with the Practice Practice educator and the Theatre managers to develop a plan and provide support in the clinical area.
