Qualifications

Job description

We are March, the UK's leading provider of critical engineering services. Our expertise as a multi-disciplinary engineering partner across infrastructure, process, and digital services has led to long-term partnerships with leading organizations in sectors such as food and drink, utilities, and high-security industries like defence, aerospace, and nuclear.

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting a Senior Project Manager to join the infrastructure team based in Burton Upon Trent.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects, supporting their team from inception to handover, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This pivotal role requires strong leadership to support the Operations Director in delivering profitable growth for our established business.

The projects led will include MEP services to rail depots (both new builds and extensions/refurbishments), including offices, sidings, and depots, with project values ranging from £5m to £20m, all based in England.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee the entire project lifecycle from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards.
  2. Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring financial efficiency and accountability.
  3. Manage change effectively with support from the commercial team, recognize early signs of delay, and manage risks by ensuring contractual compliance, ultimately maximizing project profitability.
  4. Ensure the design process is completed efficiently and aligns with the employer's requirements.
  5. Act as the main point of contact for all stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and community members.
  6. Hire, train, and mentor project managers and team members to build a cohesive and capable project team.
  7. Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies collaboratively.
  8. Ensure all activities comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
  9. Maintain high standards of quality, conduct inspections, complete handover paperwork, and prepare reports.
Skills and Experiences:
  • Ability to plan, organize, and oversee rail projects efficiently and to specification.
  • Assertive and proactive in ensuring compliance and achieving project procedures.
  • Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder interaction.
  • Leadership and motivation skills to achieve project goals.
  • Analytical skills to resolve issues during projects.
  • Experience with rail systems, regulations, and standards.
  • Risk identification and mitigation expertise.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
  • Adaptability to changing project requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, document control platforms, and quality documentation.
  • Typically, 5+ years of rail project management experience.
  • Experience with depots, trackside, and London Underground projects.
  • Leadership experience in managing complex projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of rail transit systems, including DC power, Earthing, MEPH systems, Oil recovery, Sanding, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, HNC, or HND in Building Services, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • CIBSE MIET, Sentinel Pass, Rail medical, and PTS certifications are advantageous.
