ROLE: Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer

LOCATION: Suffolk

CONTRACT LENGTH: Min 8 Months

RATE: Negotiable DOE - OUTSIDE IR35

Site Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer Role description

  1. Leading and executing electrical commissioning activities for a gas power project in UK, until successful handover to the customer.
  2. The scope of activities will be:
    • Hands-on commissioning of electrical components and systems such as transformers, high and low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, etc.
    • Familiar with using Primary & Secondary Injection test set equipment.
    • Carrying out testing on electrical systems and equipment, as well as system optimization and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols.
    • Understands and executes the equipment clearance (LOTO) procedure, as well as Job Safety Analysis / Work Authorization / Confined Space / Hot Work Permits.
    • Authorized for planning and executing LV electrical isolations.
    • Cooperation with internal team members, guidance and coordination of external partners and sub-contractors, interacting with customers.
    • Managing and leading the team of LV / HV electrical engineers, electrical supervisors, technicians, etc.
    • Participate in the Plan of the Day meeting daily providing resourceful inputs on the work progress.
    • Ensure all activities conducted on site follow the correct process in accordance with project requirements and in strict compliance with all EHS requirements.
    • Coordination of all necessary activities with all involved parties, such as commissioning team, erection team, and sub-contractors.
    • Participation in the walk-downs for Turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.
    • Preparation and update of the commissioning procedures to be conducted on site.
    • Manage the documentation submission for project close-out.
    • Report to the Commissioning Manager and the Head of Commissioning.
    • Provide theoretical and practical training to customer personnel.
    • Deputize Commissioning Manager in his / her absence.

Requirements

At least 7 years working experience in power stations Electrical Commissioning activities with demonstrable experience in a leading role in projects of similar relevance.

BSc Degree, or BEng / HND in Electrical engineering

Strong team spirit, working with an international team and other cultures.

Excellent communication skills

Strong Organizational skills

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Fluent spoken and written English

    • Cooperation with internal team members, guidance and coordination of external partners and sub-contractors, interacting with customers.
    • Ensure all activities conducted on site follow the correct process in accordance with project requirements and in strict compliance with all EHS requirements.

HND / HNC in Electrical engineering
