Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support partner primary schools across Cambridges. This role offers flexibility with day-to-day supply, long-term placements and temp-to-perm opportunities in varied primary school settings.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support lessons, prepare classrooms, work with pupils and promote a safe, inclusive environment while complying with safeguarding checks. DBS updates or willingness to obtain one are required.

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for supporting children.
• Positive, patient and proactive approach to working with pupils.
• Ability to adapt to different schools, year groups and classroom environments.
• Previous experience with children or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to complete safeguarding and compliance checks.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective learning activities.
• Prepare the classroom for lessons, including setting up and organising resources.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to provide targeted learning support.
• Support pupils with reading, writing, Maths and other areas of the curriculum.
• Help pupils remain engaged, motivated and confident in their learning.
• Provide additional support to pupils with varying learning needs, including SEND where required.
• Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime where required.
• Support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of pupils.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
• Participate in relevant training and CPD opportunities to support your professional development.
