Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Humber and North Yorkshire Dynamic Support Keyworker Service. The role focuses on supporting autistic young people and those with a learning disability up to the age of 25 who are at the highest risk of being admitted to a mental health hospital. The service supports people across Humber (Hull, East Riding, North Lincolnshire or North‑East Lincolnshire), North Yorkshire and York.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Working with autistic people, people with learning disabilities or both, and people with complex communication and behavioural issues, and their families/carers.
  • Experience of liaising with multi‑disciplinary professionals and working across agencies.
  • Experience of children and adults mental health and human rights.
  • Experience and skills in undertaking holistic whole family assessments and risk assessments.
Qualifications
  • Professional qualification equivalent to degree level in a relevant subject, or equivalent level of experience of autistic people, people with learning disabilities, or both, gained through lived experience, education, youth work, health, or social services.
  • Lived experience specific to learning disabilities, autism or both with children, young people and adults up to the age of 25.
Knowledge
  • Understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, requiring expertise within a specialism or discipline underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience.
  • An understanding of the difficulties children and young people are likely to face with a learning disability, autism or both and complex needs.
  • An understanding of the education, health, and care system (including those aged 16‑25) to fulfil the key working function of holding services to account.
  • An understanding of the Care (Education) and Treatment Review (C(E)TR) and Dynamic Support Register process, and challenges.
Skills and Competencies
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining good relationships with children, young people, and adults.
  • Keyboard skills and experience of a range of information systems.
