Job summary

Durham County Council invites applications for Sessional Lecturers to deliver high-quality learning for DurhamLearn. You will cover areas such as Business, Digital Skills, Maths/English, Health and Social Care, Education and Apprenticeships, with occasional travel between centres and to employer premises.

The role requires a Level 4 teaching qualification, vocational or graduate subject knowledge, and English/Maths at level 2. DBS Enhanced disclosure is required for successful candidates.

Qualifications

• A minimum Level 4 teaching qualification - DTLLS, CertEd or equivalent.
• A professional, vocational or graduate qualification in the field to be taught; NVQ Level 3 or equivalent for vocational delivery, with at least one level above the level to be taught.
• Vocational qualifications or CPD must demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of the subject area.
• L2 in English and Maths or appropriate equivalent
• Assessor Award and IQA Award desirable for Apprenticeship delivery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver good or outstanding teaching and learning using innovative methods.
• Identify and address the needs of a wide range of learners, including those with additional needs or challenging behaviour.
• Travel between centres and employer premises, with potential day, evening, and weekend work; may involve lone working and manual handling.
