Job summary

Apex Education Recruitment is seeking a resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Years 7–11 in a Romford secondary school. The role focuses on helping students with Learning Difficulties both in and out of the classroom and requires a patient, flexible approach.

You will work Monday to Friday during term time, assisting with the delivery of the secondary curriculum, supporting social and emotional development, and reinforcing learning with individual pupils and small

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
• Understanding of KS3–KS4 secondary curriculum.
• Ability to calmly work with teenagers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resilient, patient, and compassionate approach.
• Ability to support students with a range of SEN needs.
• Willingness to support students’ social and emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to SEN students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Assist with the delivery of the secondary curriculum.
• Support pupils in managing their social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
• Reinforce class teaching, help explain tasks, and encourage engagement.
• Support teachers with classroom management and preparation of learning materials.
• Build positive working relationships with students, helping them to develop confidence and independence.
