Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements or required training for subject and level.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements with written evidence of prep.
• Prepare lessons with accommodations for different learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines and policies.
• Plan and use instructional strategies and materials matching students’ learning needs.
• Assess student learning and use results to plan activities.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEP.
• Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teachers’ aides and volunteers.
• Use technology to strengthen teaching and learning.
• Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through tests.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Be a positive role model and support the district’s mission.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning for student development.
• Manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and materials.
• Establish/open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and community.
• Present information clearly with effective communication skills.
• Participate in staff development to improve skills.
• Stay informed of state/district/school regulations and policies.
• Compile and file all required reports and records.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
