Job summary

Jane Austen College is seeking a Cover Supervisor to supervise whole classes during teacher absences, ensuring continuity of learning and welfare. The role includes delivering set work, maintaining classroom discipline and supporting the curriculum across key stages.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and behaviour management skills, experience in similar settings, and ability to work calmly under pressure.

Qualifications

• Very good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE C or NVQ3 in Maths and English).
• Proficient use of technology to support teaching and learning.
• Experience of teaching or other learning environments covering groups or whole classes.
• Ability to communicate clearly with pupils, parents, carers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality supervision of classes to cover short-term absence.
• Provide general curriculum support including planning and administration.
• Procure and develop curriculum and enrichment resources as needed.
• Implement safeguarding procedures and promote welfare of pupils.
