Role Enterprise Architect

Location: 2-3 days on site and occasional in London travel expected to other client sites.

Security Clearance: UK DV Clearance (MANDATORY)

Planned start date: 21st November 2025

Duration: 4.5 months (27th March 2026)

IR35 status TBC

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join our client's architecture team. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape enterprise-wide architectural strategies and technical solutions for critical programmes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise architecture frameworks, ensuring alignment between business strategy and technology implementation across multiple secure programmes.

Key responsibilities
  • Design and evolve enterprise architecture frameworks aligned to standards and NAF methodologies
  • Develop comprehensive architecture views across multiple domains including application, data, technology, security, and business perspectives
  • Create targeted architecture views such as system context diagrams, integration landscapes, data flow models, capability maps, and technology roadmaps
  • Lead architectural governance across complex programmes and secure environments
  • Create and maintain architectural models, documentation and artefacts using tools such as BizzDesign and Sparx Enterprise Architect
  • Build stakeholder-specific viewpoints tailored to different audiences (technical teams, programme boards, senior leadership)
  • Provide strategic architectural guidance to programme teams and senior stakeholders
  • Conduct architecture reviews and assurance activities across the technology estateEnsure compliance with Defence security policies, standards, and architectural principles
  • Collaborate with customer and solution architects, technical leads, and business stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions
  • Support bid activities and contribute to technical proposals for follow on work
Essential requirements
  • Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect within defence and/or secure government sectors
  • Demonstrable experience building multi-layered architecture views and viewpoints for diverse stakeholder groups
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, NAF)
  • Experience working within secure environments and understanding of defence security requirements
  • Hands‑on experience with using Enterprise Architecture toolsets e.g. Sparx Enterprise Architect
  • Experience with cloud architectures and DevSecOps in secure environments
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and integration patterns
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at senior levels
Desirable skills
  • TOGAF, NAF or other relevant architecture certifications
  • Knowledge of defence capability delivery and acquisition processes
  • Experience with agile delivery methodologies in enterprise contexts
