Job summary

Matchtech Group in Stevenage is seeking a DV-cleared Windows Engineer to support our defence client onsite on a 12-month contract. This role is fully on site and involves working within highly restricted Windows environments.

You will provide operational support across Windows Server and Desktop environments, manage patching, changes, incident response, and documentation, and coordinate with incident managers to resolve issues in line with SLAs while maintaining detailed asset registers and

Qualifications

• DV clearance is mandatory.
• Extensive experience as a Windows Engineer.
• Proficiency in Windows Server, Windows OS, AD and virtualization.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site due to network restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support, administration, and configuration management across Infrastructure and Workplace Windows Environments.
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the business IT environment.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance and patching across Windows Environments.
• Manage changes to the restricted Windows Environment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Create, maintain, and audit inventory information and asset registers.
• Develop and maintain high-quality documentation and problem resolution guides.
• Resolve incidents related to Windows Services in line with agreed SLAs, escalating as necessary.
• Act as Tier 2 / Tier 3 support for Windows-related issues, performing incident response and remediation.
• Coordinate with incident and technical managers during high-severity incidents.
• Identify root causes of recurring incidents and implement long-term solutions.

Rate: £67.75ph UMB to £74.32ph UMB (Inside IR35)

Role details:

We are looking for a DV cleared Windows Engineer to support our defence client in Stevenage. The successful candidate will be part of the Digital Excellence function, providing critical IT services to the business, ensuring the security and efficiency of operations within highly restricted environments.

• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the business IT environment.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance and patching across Windows Environments.
• Manage changes to the restricted Windows Environment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Create, maintain, and audit inventory information and asset registers.
• Develop and maintain high-quality documentation and problem resolution guides.

Job Requirements:

• Active DV clearance is mandatory.
• Extensive experience as a Windows Engineer, capable of working across both Infrastructure and Workplace environments.
• Proficiency in Windows Server, Windows OS, Desktop Applications, Virtualisation, Storage Solutions, AD, and Access Management.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and knowledge of networking principles.
• Strong documentation and communication skills for maintaining comprehensive records and guides.
• Ability to work fully on-site due to the nature of the network.
