Job summary

CBSbutler Holdings Limited trading as CBSbutler is seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA with active DV clearance to join a secure public sector environment in Reading on an onsite basis. The role involves hands-on administration across legacy and modern SQL Server platforms, providing 2nd and 3rd line support to ensure database availability, security and performance.

You will lead performance tuning, DR planning, and automation using PowerShell and T-SQL, collaborating with IT, security, and service

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA in production environments.
• Expertise with SQL Server versions, WSFC, FCI and Always On.
• Strong T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience in backup, recovery, disaster recovery and security controls.
• Familiarity with ITIL incident/problem/change management processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd and 3rd line support across production, pre-production and development SQL Server environments.
• Administer patches, upgrades and migrations for SQL Server versions.
• Manage SQL Server high availability, clustering, FCI and Always On Availability Groups.
• Lead database incident resolution, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Develop automation and scripting solutions using PowerShell and T-SQL.
• Work with application, infrastructure, security and service management teams.
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and operational standards.
