Join Our Client as a Data Architect - Exciting Opportunity in Data Strategy and Security

Role Summary

In response to strategic growth and evolving project demands, Our Client is seeking a highly experienced Data Architect to join their team. This pivotal role offers the chance to influence data architecture and standards across multiple high–profile projects, underpinning critical defence solutions. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to design robust data frameworks that support secure and compliant operations, making a tangible difference in national security initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Craft and evolve comprehensive data models, including conceptual, logical, and physical schemas, aligned with sector standards.
  • Facilitate close collaboration with clients and stakeholders to translate operational needs into effective data strategies.
  • Ensure all data solutions adhere to government, MOD, and organisational data governance and security policies, especially regarding classified information.
  • Lead evaluations of emerging data technologies, recommending innovative solutions such as cloud platforms, data lakes, and analytics tools that meet stringent security requirements.
  • Support project teams through the design and implementation of data pipelines, warehousing, and analytical platforms.
  • Produce clear documentation and develop internal standards for data architecture practices.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on advancements in the field, introducing innovative methodologies that enhance project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with security specialists to embed security best practices into every aspect of data architecture and infrastructure.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer in complex, secure environments.
  • Strong expertise in data modelling, data integration, and metadata management.
  • Knowledge of defence sector data standards and secure data handling procedures.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, alongside data warehousing and big data technologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or related data programming languages.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance or existing clearance is essential due to the sensitive nature of the work.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience with emerging data architecture technologies such as data lakes, data meshes, or advanced analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards beyond the core requirements, including international cybersecurity or data security frameworks.
  • Previous engagement with defence or government projects, demonstrating understanding of regulatory environments.
