Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 and/or Band 6 Radiographer to join our existing skilled, friendly radiographic team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust providing services across the full week.

Location: Basildon, central Essex. The role requires rotation through different areas including A&E, Theatres, Mobile, General x‑ray, and outlying Community Hospitals. As a dual banded post, candidates will be supported for promotion to Band 6 through a structured development plan.

Full participation in a 24‑hour, 365‑day shift system including nights, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
  • Work independently as a Band 5 radiographer after competency completion, progressing to Band 6.
  • Act in a supervisory role leading a small group; mentor and supervise undergraduate students (Band 6 responsibilities).
  • Provide services across the department: Plain film, theatre, fluoroscopy, CT, MR, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, & Cardiac Imaging.
  • Support Radiographer Advanced and Extended Scope practice such as Image Reporting, Radiographer‑led CT Colonography, and upper GI Fluoroscopy.
  • Participate in training opportunities for CT, MR, fluoroscopy and IR, as service requirements allow.
  • Rotate through all sites including Community Hospitals.
