DT Technician

We are seeking a dedicated DT Technicianto provide essential support within the Technology Department in a secondary school we are currently working with. This role is pivotal in maintaining and preparing equipment and materials for practical technology lessons, ensuring a smooth and efficient learning environment for both students and staff.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare extraction unit filters and organise materials for practical lessons.
- Set up equipment and teaching materials, including photocopying and creating teaching aids.
- Provide additional technical support to individual students and staff during teaching sessions.
- Maintain and service departmental hand tools, machines (including CNC machines), and other equipment like portable saws and plotter cutters.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits to ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Policy.
- Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and administrative duties within the department.
- Support the Network Manager in maintaining and repairing the network and PC clusters (training provided).
- Develop proficiency and obtain certification in the use of woodwork and metalworking machines, CNC lathes, and plotter/cutters.
- Prepare equipment for the new academic year during the summer holidays.
- Contribute to creating a clean, tidy, and well-organised environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in maintaining tools and equipment, with a thorough knowledge of hand tools, machine tools, lathes (including CNC), milling machines (including CNC), CAM, forging, and welding equipment.
- Maintenance and building experience.
- DATA accreditation is required to use the machinery.
- Good communication skills and experience working with young people.
- Ability to work with technical drawings and measurements.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Understanding of the needs of teachers and students and capable of motivating students to achieve.
- Knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and effective use of ICT to support learning.
- Good interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a creative approach to problem-solving.
