A local education institution in Oxford is seeking a dedicated DT Teacher to shape practical and creative learning experiences for students. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging lessons in product design, food technology, and engineering principles, while nurturing a supportive environment that enables students to succeed. This role emphasizes the need for dedication to inclusive practices and aim to remove barriers to education, ensuring every student can thrive in their learning journey.
As a DT Teacher at our vibrant city school, you will play a central role in shaping practical, creative, and future-focused learning for students who deserve the very best opportunities. Many of our students face significant barriers linked to socio-economic deprivation, and DT is a subject through which they can gain essential hands‑on skills, confidence, and pathways into further education, apprenticeships, and employment. You will deliver engaging lessons across the DT curriculum – product design, food technology, engineering principles and resistant materials – ensuring that students develop technical competence alongside creative problem‑solving. The role requires a commitment to inclusive practice, ensuring every student can access high-quality workshop experiences and meaningful project work regardless of their background. Beyond the classroom, you will help nurture a safe, well‑resourced, and inspiring learning environment where students feel empowered to experiment, think critically, and take pride in making. You will contribute to curriculum development, support enrichment activities, and work closely with pastoral teams to remove barriers to learning. This is a position for a teacher who believes in the transformative power of practical education and is motivated by the opportunity to make a genuine difference in a community where your expertise and encouragement can have profound impact.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate professional with the expertise and determination to live out our values of ‘commitment to others, commitment to learning.’ These values shape everything we do and are reflected in the strong, supportive relationships across our community and in the purposeful learning culture we build for both students and staff. Working with a large number of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, you will understand the impact that high expectations, consistency, and care can have on a young person’s life. You will be deeply committed to removing barriers, raising aspirations, and ensuring every student, regardless of their starting point, can succeed.
The Oxford Academy is an important part of our local community and we are deeply committed to serving and reflecting the families we work with every day. Many of our students face significant challenges, and we know that strong relationships, trust, and local understanding make a real difference. That's why we actively encourage people from our community (including parents, local residents, and those with strong ties to the area) to join our team. By welcoming local talent and colleagues who share our belief in removing barriers for disadvantaged young people, we ensure our values stay aligned with the aspirations of those we serve.
We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified and resourced applicants, irrespective of age, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other protected characteristic as defined by UK law. We are committed to ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
