Are you a creative, hands‑on individual with a flair for design and the arts? A forward‑thinking secondary school in Waltham Forest is looking to appoint a skilled and proactive Design Technology/Art Technician to join their team as soon as possible.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting both the Art and Design & Technology departments, helping to create a vibrant and inspiring learning environment for students.

About the Role:
  • Prepare and organise tools, materials, and equipment for practical lessons across Art and DT
  • Support students and staff during lessons, providing technical guidance when needed
  • Ensure all tools, machinery, and materials are safely maintained and compliant with health and safety standards
  • Monitor and manage departmental stock and supplies, including ordering materials such as timber, adhesives, paints, and art tools
  • Contribute to the display of student work and project outcomes throughout the school
  • Maintain tidy, well‑organised workshops and studio spaces
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualifications or practical experience in Art, Design Technology, or a related discipline
  • Familiarity with tools, machinery, and workshop safety protocols (experience with laser cutters, 3D printers, or kilns is highly desirable)
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks independently
  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to supporting creativity in the classroom
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
