Job summary

Veolia in Durham is seeking a driver to operate in a busy waste collection role. You will drive to planned locations, move containers, and ensure all paperwork and onboard data are kept up to date.

The role requires compliance with transport rules and daily vehicle checks, with a focus on safe, efficient waste management operations. The position offers a 48-hour week, with early start times and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 2 (Cat C) driving licence is required.
• Up-to-date CPC is required.
• Digi/Tachograph Card is required.

Responsibilities

• Driving to planned collection locations and moving/emptying multiple commercial waste containers.
• Ensuring all information is entered into the onboard system and paperwork is kept up to date and submitted daily.
• Completing daily vehicle checks as per driver operator handbook.
• Complying with traffic laws and load weight limits.
• Ensuring the carriageway is left clean and spillages are cleaned up.

Salary: £41,429.28 per annum plus Veolia benefits
£5.00 Daily meal allowance - per day worked
Single person Daily Allowance: Paid Dependant on the Route £41.16 (RCV mode only)

Hours: 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday - 4am starts and finishing at 14:00
Some days you will be asked to start later so you must be flexible with working hours

What you’ll be doing;

• Driving to planned collection locations and moving / emptying multiple commercial waste containers
• Ensuring all information is input into the onboard system and all paperwork is kept up to date and submitted daily
• Completing daily checks of the vehicle as per our driver operator handbook
• Complying with all traffic laws and legislation including and weight of loads
• Ensuring that the carriageway is left in a clean condition and any spillages are cleaned up

What we’re looking for;

Essential:

• Class 2 (Cat C) license
• Up to date CPC
• Digi / Tachograph Card

Desirable

• Previous waste management experience
• RORO and Skip experience
