Job summary

Vp plc, via its MEP Hire division, is seeking a Driver/Branch Assistant in Birmingham. You will operate a 7.5t vehicle to deliver and collect equipment from customers, and demonstrate how equipment works to ensure customer confidence and support.

After deliveries, you will return to the branch to assist the team with daily operations, perform vehicle checks, complete documentation, and help identify new business opportunities while maintaining health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven multi-drop driving experience.
• Experience driving a 7.5t vehicle and knowledge of the local area.
• Excellent customer service and ability to demonstrate equipment.
• Hold a valid 7.5t UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and collect equipment to customers using a 7.5t vehicle.
• Return to the branch and support day-to-day operations.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and complete documentation accurately.

Job description

Working for us as a Driver/Branch Assistant, you’ll spend much of your day out on the road delivering and collecting equipment from customers in a 7.5t vehicle. As part of the service, you may also be required to demonstrate how equipment should be used, ensuring customers feel confident and supported.

Once your deliveries and collections are complete, you’ll return to the branch and work alongside the wider team to help keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.

We are specifically looking for someone with the appropriate 7.5t driving entitlement for this role and are not seeking candidates with a Class 1 or Class 2 licence.

You’ll be responsible for completing all deliveries and collections allocated by your line manager, carrying out daily vehicle checks such as oil and water levels, lights and tyres, and ensuring all customer and business documentation is completed accurately and in full.

You’ll also be expected to present equipment to a high standard, remain alert to potential new business opportunities while out on the road, and play an active part in maintaining MEP’s strong health and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Multi-drop driving experience
• Experience of driving a 7.5T vehicle and a good knowledge of the area
• You’ll enjoy meeting people, being an advocate for great customer service
• With an interest in machinery, you will have basic knowledge of how equipment works or be keen to learn and widen your own expertise
• Ability to demonstrate the use of all equipment (once learned)
• Basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace
• 7.5t UK driving licence essential
