The Opportunity

Are you passionate about road safety and helping others succeed? The Department of Transport & Major Infrastructure (DTMI) is seeking enthusiastic and customer‑focused individuals to join our team as Driver Assessors at both Level 2 and Level 3 classifications.

About the Role

As a Driver Assessor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and competency of Western Australian drivers. You’ll conduct practical driving assessments, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the development of safe driving practices across multiple Metropolitan WA licensing centres.

In this role your positive approach and excellent communication skills will be your greatest asset as you conduct practical driving assessments for a wide variety of candidates seeking licences. Using your high attention to detail and the training provided, you will assess the candidate’s ability to meet the required standards of competency and provide comprehensive feedback in a compassionate and informative manner.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 12 months from the date of first appointment across the Department of Transport.

All candidates will be assessed against both levels (2 & 3) to identify their level of suitability. Applicants that hold both a C and R class licence are encouraged to apply for vacancies at Cannington, Butler, Kelmscott and Joondalup. A Class R licence is highly desirable for this pool.

To be suitable for:
  • Level 3: you must hold a Current Motor Drivers Licence C class (manual) as well as HR and R class licence.
  • Level 2: you must hold a Current Motor Drivers Licence C Class (manual) for at least 4 years; R class licence is desirable.
Locations Available

We have a number of Driver Assessor vacancies available in the following regions:

  • Greater North Region: Butler & Joondalup
  • Northern Region: Mirrabooka, Midland & City West
  • Greater South Region: Mandurah & Rockingham
  • South Region: Cannington, Kelmscott & Success

We are looking for candidates available to work full‑time on rotating shifts, 7 days a week, between 7am to 6pm.
